Melody Datz Hansen is a certified postpartum doula and breastfeeding specialist in Seattle. My doula work is informed by backgrounds in global health research, attachment parenting, natural baby sleep patterns, breastfeeding, and mindfulness parenting.
The physical and emotional changes that come with the birth or adoption of a new child are life-altering. Each family’s needs are unique. My approach to doula work centers on the acknowledgement, respect, and support of these needs.
As an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) candidate, I completed two years of academic study in infant development, anatomy, biology, psychology, and communication, and am in the clinical internship phase of my journey.
I was born Melody Elena Flores in San Antonio, Texas, and live in Seattle with my partner and son. I write about the arts for local newspapers and volunteer as a research consultant for small public health organizations. Community outreach and social justice in postpartum health are crucial parts of my service to communities.
